Location: New York, New York, United States
Salary: $120000 - $145000
Job type: Permanent

About the role

JCW is partnering with a leading international insurance firm to hire an Audit — AI & Data Analytics Specialist to join their growing U.S. Internal Audit team in the Greater Chicago area. As data and AI capabilities become increasingly embedded across insurance operations, this is a pivotal role at the intersection of audit rigor and technological innovation.

You will play a central part in evaluating how AI models, data pipelines, and advanced analytics tools are governed, controlled, and deployed across the business — providing senior leadership with confidence in the integrity and reliability of data-driven decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute risk-based audit programs focused on AI model governance, data analytics frameworks, and technology-enabled business processes.
  • Assess the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of data used in underwriting, claims, pricing, and reserving functions.
  • Evaluate controls around machine learning models and predictive analytics tools, including model validation, bias testing, and performance monitoring.
  • Identify and communicate emerging risks associated with AI adoption across the insurance value chain.
  • Collaborate with data science, technology, and business teams to provide practical, actionable recommendations that support responsible innovation.
  • Lead audit engagements end-to-end — from scoping and fieldwork through to reporting and stakeholder presentations.
  • Support the development of data-driven audit methodologies and contribute to the team’s overall analytics capability.

Ideal candidate profile

  • 5+ years of experience in internal audit, risk, or assurance with a focus on data analytics, technology, or model risk — ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of AI/ML governance, data quality frameworks, or model risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, R, or equivalent — with the ability to interrogate large datasets independently.
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations and how data and analytics are applied across underwriting, claims, and actuarial functions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • CIA, CISA, CPA, or relevant data/technology certifications preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory expectations around AI and model governance is a strong advantage.

Why this role

This is a high-visibility opportunity within a respected global insurance organization at a time when AI and data governance are at the top of every audit committee agenda. You will work alongside senior stakeholders, gain broad exposure across the business, and help shape how the firm approaches data-driven risk management for years to come. Competitive compensation and clear long-term career progression are on offer.
