Mechanical Engineering Technician

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician / R&D Lab Lead to support medical device development through hands-on prototyping, testing, and lab leadership. This role partners closely with R&D Engineers while owning day-to-day operation, organization, and compliance of R&D labs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and rework mechanical components, assemblies, and device prototypes

  • Lead R&D lab operations, ensuring clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready workspaces

  • Own 3D printing operations, including printer maintenance, material management, and workspace organization

  • Support manual machining and fixture fabrication (mill, lathe) for prototyping and test equipment

  • Create and update 3D models and engineering drawings for fixtures, components, and assemblies

  • Set up, operate, and maintain lab and test equipment

  • Manage lab inventory, documentation, and compliance with internal procedures and industry standards

  • Support audits and inspections through organized records and demonstrated lab readiness

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)

  • 3+ years of hands-on lab experience, ideally in medical devices or regulated environments

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Leadership experience managing lab resources, projects, or small teams

  • Proficiency with 3D printing, manual machining, and mechanical testing equipment

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
