About the Company

Our client is a major European player in the energy sector, currently undergoing significant growth and transformation. With large operations across feedstocks, logistics, and sustainable energy solutions, they are building one of the largest sustainability compliance teams in Europe.

The organisation is scaling rapidly due to new regulatory expectations, expanding operations, and a major acquisition in Northern Europe. As a result, the sustainability assurance function is growing in size, complexity, and strategic importance.

You will lead a team of specialists responsible for:

  • Mass balance processes
  • European and national audits
  • Feedstock sustainability
  • Ensuring alignment with European regulations across supply chains

This is a key leadership role in a growing team (currently ~10 people) where you will provide structure, guidance, and oversight to highly technical profiles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Benelux sustainability compliance team
  • Oversee ISCC rules, sustainability requirements, and audit preparation
  • Ensure accurate mass balance and feedstock compliance processes
  • Guide and mentor technical specialists; strengthen cohesion and clarity
  • Partner with internal teams across supply chain, logistics, and assurance
  • Contribute to strategic decisions as the organisation expands

Profile & Requirements

Must-haves:

  • Solid managerial/leadership experience
  • Strong expertise in ISCC, sustainability certification, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with EU and country-level audits (Benelux required; France a plus)
  • Ability to operate strategically, not only technically
  • Willingness to work 4–5 days/week on-site in Rotterdam

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of German or Swiss sustainability regulations
  • Experience in energy, feedstock, or trading environments

What’s On Offer

  • A leadership role within one of the largest sustainability teams in Europe
