A leading insurance group in the Swiss market is seeking a Senior Transport Underwriter to join its established transport underwriting team. With a strong reputation across commercial and specialty insurance, the business has a well-established presence in Switzerland and is recognised for its underwriting expertise, long-standing broker relationships, and strong market position. The role will focus on underwriting national and international transport risks, managing and developing an existing portfolio, and working closely with brokers, agents, and clients across both technical and commercial matters. It offers a broad mix of risk assessment, portfolio management, broker relationship development, and business growth responsibility within a collaborative and highly visible underwriting environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Independently assess and underwrite national and international transport risks
  • Prepare offers, structure coverage, and negotiate terms with brokers, agents, and clients
  • Manage and develop an existing transport portfolio, including renewals, restructuring initiatives, and portfolio optimisation
  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers and agencies through regular meetings, consultations, client visits, and negotiations
  • Provide technical underwriting expertise and commercial support to drive profitable portfolio growth
  • Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to underwriting strategy and business development initiatives
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support efficient portfolio management and deliver tailored insurance solutions

 

Main Requirements

 

  • 4+ years of experience within Transport / Marine underwriting
  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge with the ability to assess and price complex risks independently
  • Experience managing broker and client relationships within a commercial underwriting environment
  • Analytical, solution-oriented, and proactive approach with a high level of ownership
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent German required; French or Italian would be considered an advantage
  • Insurance specialist qualification is beneficial but not essential
