Process Development Technician | Contract-to-Hire | Medical Device Manufacturing

Overview

A growing medical device manufacturer specializing in catheter-based products is looking for a Process Development Technician to join their team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This is a hands-on, floor-based role supporting the process development engineering team across multiple active projects. The right person will help free up engineering bandwidth by owning key day-to-day technical activities — this is not a builder role, and prior experience beyond assembly is essential.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collecting data and running test parts in support of ongoing development projects
  • Performing pull tests, part measurements, and floor-level qualification activities — understanding not just how to run tests, but why
  • Attending project meetings with engineers to assess workload and contribute across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Supporting and managing builds on the floor, working alongside operators
  • Equipment management and calibrations
  • Drafting and updating manufacturing documentation, including change order activities and travelers — GDP compliance and accuracy are critical in this environment
  • Working in both cleanroom and general manufacturing environments, adhering to all applicable protocols

What They Are Looking For

  • Hands-on experience in medical device or catheter manufacturing — familiarity with reflowing catheter components is a strong plus
  • Cleanroom experience with a solid understanding of what is and is not permissible in that environment
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience running tests and maintaining equipment
  • An intuitive troubleshooting mindset — someone who asks the right questions to fully understand the process and expected output
  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheet use for data collection
  • Strong GDP awareness and an understanding of why documentation accuracy matters, not just compliance for its own sake
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
  • CDMO or OEM backgrounds are welcome

Experience

  • 3–7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Open to candidates with less experience where aptitude, mechanical instinct, and the right train of thought are evident
  • High school diploma or GED required; 2-year degree or vocational/apprenticeship training preferred
