We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician / R&D Lab Lead to support medical device development through hands-on prototyping, testing, and lab leadership. This role partners closely with R&D Engineers while owning day-to-day operation, organization, and compliance of R&D labs.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and rework mechanical components, assemblies, and device prototypes
Lead R&D lab operations, ensuring clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready workspaces
Own 3D printing operations, including printer maintenance, material management, and workspace organization
Support manual machining and fixture fabrication (mill, lathe) for prototyping and test equipment
Create and update 3D models and engineering drawings for fixtures, components, and assemblies
Set up, operate, and maintain lab and test equipment
Manage lab inventory, documentation, and compliance with internal procedures and industry standards
Support audits and inspections through organized records and demonstrated lab readiness
Qualifications
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
3+ years of hands-on lab experience, ideally in medical devices or regulated environments
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting
Leadership experience managing lab resources, projects, or small teams
Proficiency with 3D printing, manual machining, and mechanical testing equipment
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
