About the Role

At JCW Group, we’re partnering with a well-established regional bank to recruit a Senior Accountant – Investments. This role sits within the accounting team and plays a key part in supporting accounting and reporting for the bank’s investment portfolio, while also contributing to core general accounting and month-end close activities. You will be responsible for investment accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance in a regulated banking environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant with experience in investment accounting who enjoys a mix of analytical and hands-on accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform investment accounting for the bank’s securities portfolio, including amortization, accretion, and valuation analysis
• Prepare and post journal entries related to investments and general ledger activity
• Support month-end close, including account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
• Maintain and reconcile investment sub-ledgers to the general ledger
• Assist with accounting for the Bank’s Loan Portfolio
• Monitor investment activity, purchases, sales, maturities, and unrealized gains/losses
• Prepare supporting schedules for management, auditors, and regulators
• Partner with Treasury and Finance teams to ensure accurate reporting of investment activity
• Support process improvements and strengthen internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA strongly preferred (or CPA-eligible)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience with investment or securities accounting within banking or financial services strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Experience with AFS / HTM accounting and investment reconciliations
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with investment accounting systems a plus
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
