JCW Group has partnered with a boutique employee benefits consulting firm to hire an Employee Benefits Producer within their sales and business development function. This is a production-focused role serving small, mid-market and large employers throughout California, where you will originate new employer-sponsored benefits business and own senior-level client relationships. It is an excellent opportunity for an established producer with a proven track record inside a respected agency who is looking for a more entrepreneurial platform, aggressive commission structure, and dedicated support behind them.

Position Details

  • Location: California preferred. Open to candidates in other locations, with Texas considered a strong alternative market.
  • Client base: small, mid-market and large employers throughout California and Texas
  • Function: Business development and new business production.
  • Timing: Open enrollment begins in approximately one month, making this an ideal window for a producer ready to move quickly.
  • Growth path: Partner track available over time for the right candidate.

Position Overview
This is a business development position built for an experienced producer. It is not an account management, service, enrollment, or entry-level sales role. The firm is a boutique employee benefits consulting practice, and its producers are backed by experienced account management, operational, and technical resources so they can concentrate on winning new business and maintaining senior-level client relationships. You will have the autonomy to grow your book while receiving the support required to serve clients at a high level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personally originate new employer-sponsored employee benefits business.
  • Retain and grow an existing book of business.
  • Build and maintain senior-level client relationships across mid-market and larger employer groups.
  • Develop and work relationships with business owners, CFOs, HR leaders, and referral partners.
  • Generate your own leads while leveraging a portfolio of existing, qualified leads, and drive the full consultative sales cycle from prospecting through close.
  • Partner with account management, operational, and technical support teams to deliver high-level client service.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of direct employee benefits production experience.
  • Demonstrated success personally originating and retaining employer-sponsored benefits business.
  • Experience working with mid-market and larger employer groups.
  • Established relationships with business owners, CFOs, HR leaders, and referral partners.
  • Strong consultative selling and relationship management skills.
  • Active California Life and Health insurance license.
  • Sales-focused background rather than an enrollment specialist background.
  • Self-sufficient lead generator who is comfortable building pipeline independently.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of direct employee benefits production experience.
  • An established, portable book of business, or active leads close to closing.
  • PEO extraction experience. The firm specializes in transitioning nonprofit organizations of roughly 200 employees off of PEO arrangements.
  • Currently mid-career at an insurance firm and motivated by a stronger commission structure and better support.
