A global financial institution’s Volcker Compliance Program is seeking an experienced Risk & Controls contractor to help rebuild and drive forward a workstream that has stalled for several months. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role covering control inventories, sign-off/approval processes, and supporting documentation — working closely with the program lead and a small, lean team. The team previously operated with a much larger consulting presence that has since been wound down, so this role carries real ownership and visibility from day one.

• Build out and roll out control inventories across the Volcker program, ensuring controls are properly captured in systems.
• Manage sign-off and approval workflows for controls with relevant stakeholders.
• Own documentation deliverables: policy updates, procedure updates, and KPI/metrics reporting.
• Bring process rigor to a program area that has lacked dedicated resourcing — prior Volcker-specific knowledge is not required, as the specifics are learned on the job.
• Partner with the program lead and wider finance/compliance stakeholders to get the workstream back on track.

• 5–10 years of relevant experience (5 years minimum), ideally at VP or Director level.
• Strong background in risk and controls: control inventory build-out, systems entry, and sign-off/approval processes.
• Regulatory compliance experience; prior Volcker Rule exposure is a plus but not essential.
• Strong documentation skills — comfortable owning policies, procedures, and metrics/KPI reporting.
• Process-oriented mindset; able to operate with autonomy in an under-resourced, high-visibility environment.
• No SQL or deep technical/data skills required.
• Based in or able to commute to New York, NY (1–2 days per week on-site).
